Today was a fantastic start to the school year! It was great to see so many smiling faces who were eager to get back to learning and building a strong and welcoming class community. I love that I was able to meet new students and greet students that I taught last year!
This week, we are mainly focusing on establishing a positive classroom climate where all students (and the teacher!) feel included and respected. We will be creating classroom rules and routines that will help us to be the best students (and teachers!) that we can be. Our rules and routines reflect our Catholic beliefs by reinforcing that all students have a special quality to offer and that each student should respect others, as well as him- or herself.
With this in mind, homework will not begin until next week. Each week, students will receive one homework assignment that they will need to complete for the following week. They will receive this assignment on Tuesdays and they will be expected to hand it in, completed, on the following Tuesday. If a student does not hand in their homework on time, they will need to stay in during the first recess (for Grade 2/3) or the last recess (for Grade 5/6) to finish the assignment. Parents will also be notified. Being responsible and organized are very important during the learning process!
Merci et à bientôt!

One final note for parents... Curriculum night is next Monday, September 14th at 6:30pm. All parents are invited to attend this evening, where I will briefly outline what each grade will be focusing on this year in terms of the French Extended and French Immersion curricula. If you have further questions about any of the details I will be providing on that evening, please don't hesitate to phone the school and leave a message for me. Communication between school and home life is a key piece in the success of your child's learning journey.
